Wins

  • Personal dispute and employment

Represented a migrant mechanic employed by a family member where a workplace dispute escalated into a highly personal, rancorous breakdown of trust. After the employer dismissed the worker on alleged “incompetence” grounds and began making disparaging comments about his work to others in the industry, we moved quickly to protect the client’s reputation and future employability. The matter was resolved at mediation with a modest settlement for lost wages and a clear, mutual non-disparagement agreement, allowing both parties to draw a line under the conflict and the client to move forward with confidence.

  • Fixed term employment - $20,000 payout to client at mediation

The client was employed on a fixed term agreement by a large, well resourced employer. Due to a pretty chaotic situation at the business, the client’s employment was ended early. At mediation in early February 2025, Michael argued unfair dismissal and the employer settled by agreeing to pay the client $20,000 and to provide a letter of reference.

  • Wrongful dismissal

Employee was wrongfully dismissed from his position as a mechanic due to performance issues. After mediation, employee reinstated and returned to work with additional training and support.

  • Unjustified disadvantage

Employee role changed without consultation. Mediation lead to an agreement to restore roles and responsibilities in employment agreement.
